Pay: Starting at $38.00/hour + 10% Night Shift Premium (higher compensation available for exceptional experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Lathe Setup/Programmer to join our night shift machining team. This position is ideal for an experienced machinist with extensive knowledge of Mazatrol conversational programming on Power Master (or equivalent) CNC lathes. The successful candidate will have a strong background in short-run, high-mix manufacturing and be capable of independently programming, setting up, and machining complex precision components while maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Program and set up CNC lathes utilizing Mazatrol conversational controls on Power Master or equivalent machines (M5N).
• Perform complete machine setups with minimal supervision in a short-run, high-mix manufacturing environment.
• Set up and operate 4-jaw manual chucks with chucking capacities up to 40 inches in diameter.
• Perform setups requiring tailstocks and one or more manual steady rests.
• Operate double-turret CNC lathes, independently utilizing separate turrets for Outside Diameter (O.D.) and Inside Diameter (I.D.) machining operations.
• Machine components with challenging length-to-diameter ratios while maintaining dimensional stability and precision.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T requirements.
• Produce precision-machined components with tolerances as tight as ±0.0005 inches.
• Machine a wide variety of materials including:
• Aluminum
• Bronze
• Carbon Steel
• Alloy Steel
• Stainless Steel
• High-Temperature Alloys
• Inspect finished parts to ensure conformance to customer specifications and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, and machining issues independently to minimize downtime.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of CNC lathe programming and setup experience.
• Extensive experience with Mazatrol conversational programming.
• Experience programming and setting up Power Master or equivalent CNC lathes (M5N).
• Strong background in short-run, high-mix production with frequent changeovers.
• Proven experience performing large machine setups using 4-jaw chucks, tailstocks, and steady rests.
• Experience operating double-turret CNC lathes.
• Excellent understanding of machining practices, cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and workholding techniques.
• Ability to read complex blueprints and maintain extremely tight machining tolerances.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
