Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic General Manager to lead a heavy fabrication manufacturing operation in Manitowoc, WI. This executive-level leader will have full P&L responsibility and oversight of production, paint line operations, electrical generation manufacturing, safety, quality, and workforce development.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in heavy fabrication, industrial paint systems, and electrical generation equipment manufacturing, along with a proven ability to drive operational excellence, profitability, and team performance.
Key ResponsibilitiesExecutive & Operational Leadership
- Provide full operational leadership and strategic direction for the manufacturing facility.
- Maintain full P&L responsibility, driving profitability and cost control initiatives.
- Establish and monitor KPIs to improve efficiency, throughput, quality, and safety.
- Develop and execute short- and long-term operational strategies aligned with growth objectives.
Heavy Fabrication Oversight
- Lead all heavy fabrication processes including welding, machining, forming, and structural assembly.
- Optimize workflow, production scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Partner with engineering to improve manufacturability and production efficiency.
Paint Line Management
- Oversee industrial paint line operations to ensure high-quality coating standards.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve throughput.
Electrical Generation Manufacturing
- Oversee fabrication, assembly, and integration of electrical generation equipment.
- Ensure cross-functional coordination between fabrication, assembly, and testing.
- Troubleshoot production challenges specific to generator systems and related equipment.
Leadership & Culture
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing leadership teams.
- Promote a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Drive employee engagement, workforce development, and succession planning.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion plant-wide safety initiatives and OSHA compliance.
- Lead safety audits, risk mitigation strategies, and corrective action plans.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and environmental regulations.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
- Significant experience in heavy fabrication manufacturing environments.
- Direct experience managing industrial paint line operations.
- Experience in electrical generation equipment manufacturing.
- Proven P&L responsibility and operational management success.
- Strong background in Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
