Machine Operator – Fabrication
Location: Mecca Talent Client Facility
Department: Fabrication (Copper & Sheet Metal)
Shift: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Shift
Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Position Summary
Mecca Talent is seeking dependable and detail-oriented Machine Operators to join a growing fabrication team. This position is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of sheet metal fabrication equipment to produce high-quality components while maintaining safety, efficiency, and production standards.
The ideal candidate has manufacturing experience, can read blueprints and setup instructions, and takes pride in producing accurate, quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, work orders, and assembly instructions.
- Set up and operate sheet metal fabrication equipment according to production specifications.
- Select the appropriate machine programs, tooling, and dies for each production run.
- Verify proper die clearance and machine setup to ensure part quality and prevent equipment damage.
- Load and position steel, aluminum, copper, and stainless steel materials safely into fabrication equipment.
- Inspect finished parts using tape measures, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Make machine adjustments as needed to maintain quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Accurately record production data and complete routing sheets and required documentation.
- Perform machine changeovers and setup independently when assigned.
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts (tow motors) to move materials safely throughout the facility.
- Work closely with supervisors, quality personnel, and team members to maintain efficient workflow.
- Identify and report equipment issues, quality concerns, or safety hazards promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings.
- Experience using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and gauges.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn multiple fabrication processes.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience is a plus (training may be provided).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Location: In person
