Mechanical Engineer / Designer

Location: Batavia, Ohio

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer / Designer to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for designing and detailing components for manufacturing with a strong emphasis on efficiency, accuracy, and manufacturability. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is committed to producing precise, functional designs that support fabrication and assembly operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce fabrication drawings, flat patterns, layouts, and detailed manufacturing prints.
  • Apply form, fit, and function principles to create accurate and efficient component designs.
  • Create complete drawing packages, including installation details and sub-component views.
  • Design manufacturable assemblies using input from physical samples, sketches, specifications, and engineering standards.
  • Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) within Microsoft Office or ERP systems.
  • Document and maintain engineering procedures and standard work instructions.
  • Ensure all designs meet drafting standards, regulatory requirements, and production needs.
  • Collaborate with production, purchasing, and other departments to support manufacturing schedules and project timelines.

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience creating fabrication drawings and detailed manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and assembly design.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a production-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems.

Preferred

  • Experience with sheet metal design and fabrication.
  • Background in a job shop or custom manufacturing environment.
  • Experience integrating BOMs within ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of welding symbols and fabrication standards.

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret a tape measure (assessment required).
