• Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year (based on experience)

Position Overview

Mecca Talent is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead heavy steel fabrication and mechanical field service projects for a growing industrial manufacturing organization in Mount Joy, PA.

This position is responsible for managing projects from estimating through final completion while ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Project Manager also plays a key role in business development by identifying new opportunities, preparing estimates and proposals, and building long-term customer relationships.

The ideal candidate has experience managing heavy fabrication, industrial construction, mechanical installation, or field service projects and possesses strong leadership, communication, budgeting, and organizational skills.

Essential ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Business Development

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for heavy steel fabrication and mechanical field service projects.
• Develop competitive pricing based on labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and project scope.
• Collaborate with engineering, fabrication, procurement, and field operations to validate project costs.
• Identify project risks and develop effective cost contingencies.
• Build and maintain long-term customer relationships to generate repeat business.
• Participate in customer meetings, site visits, and technical discussions.
• Support contract negotiations, scope reviews, and change order pricing.

Project Planning & Execution

• Manage multiple projects from award through final closeout.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, manpower plans, and execution strategies.
• Review contracts, specifications, drawings, and project documentation.
• Identify project risks and implement mitigation plans to maintain schedule and profitability.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Fabrication & Field Operations

• Coordinate closely with fabrication shop leadership to maintain production schedules.
• Monitor fabrication progress, quality, and productivity.
• Coordinate field installation activities including structural steel, piping, mechanical equipment, maintenance shutdowns, and industrial installations.
• Ensure crews have the tools, equipment, materials, and support needed for successful project execution.
• Assist field supervision in resolving technical, scheduling, and logistical challenges.

Financial Management

• Develop and maintain project budgets and cost forecasts.
• Track labor, material, subcontractor, equipment, and miscellaneous project costs.
• Manage project billing, invoicing, change orders, and financial reporting.
• Protect project margins through effective cost control and scope management.

Safety & Quality

• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across fabrication and field operations.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Verify all work meets customer specifications and quality standards.
• Address quality concerns, corrective actions, and non-conformance issues promptly.

Customer Communication

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead project meetings with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Provide regular updates on project status, schedules, budgets, and potential risks.
• Build positive working relationships through professional communication and responsiveness.

Documentation & Project Closeout

• Maintain complete project documentation, including contracts, RFIs, schedules, budgets, submittals, and change orders.
• Oversee project closeout activities including punch lists, turnover documentation, and final invoicing.
• Document lessons learned to improve future project execution and estimating accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field preferred (equivalent industry experience considered).
• Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in heavy steel fabrication, industrial construction, mechanical contracting, or manufacturing.
• Experience estimating fabrication and field service projects.
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, welding, industrial mechanical systems, and field installation.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts.
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and customer relationships.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and project management software.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
